The Alfa Romeo Montreal is a classic sports car that was produced by the Italian automaker Alfa Romeo from 1970 to 1977. The car is known for its distinctive design, powerful engine, and excellent performance on the road. Today, the Montreal remains a sought-after car among enthusiasts and collectors.

The Montreal was first introduced as a concept car at the 1967 Montreal Expo, which is where it got its name. The car was designed by Marcello Gandini, who was also responsible for the iconic Lamborghini Countach and Lancia Stratos. The Montreal's design was influenced by the Bertone-designed Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, which was also unveiled at the 1967 Expo.

The production version of the Montreal was introduced at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show. The car featured a 2.6-liter V8 engine that produced 200 horsepower and could propel the car from 0 to 100 kmh in just 7 seconds. The engine was based on the one used in the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 race car and was coupled with a five-speed manual transmission.

One of the most distinctive features of the Montreal was its headlights. The car featured a unique arrangement where the headlights were hidden behind slotted covers that opened and closed with the flick of a switch. This gave the car a futuristic look and was a feature that was ahead of its time.

Another notable feature of the Montreal was its interior. The car featured a stylish and modern cabin with comfortable bucket seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a unique instrument cluster that included a speedometer, tachometer, and fuel and temperature gauges. The car also featured air conditioning, which was a rarity for sports cars of that era.

The Montreal was well-received by the public and the press when it was first introduced. However, its high price and limited availability meant that only a small number of cars were sold. Production of the Montreal ended in 1977 after just 3,925 units were produced.

Today, the Alfa Romeo Montreal is considered a classic car and is highly sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts. The car's unique design, powerful engine, and excellent performance make it a true classic among sports cars. Although the Montreal was only produced for a short period, its legacy lives on, and it remains an important part of Alfa Romeo's history.
